10 Tips for a Better Morning

10 Tips for a Better Morning:

A morning can change the rest of your day completely. Starting off the day right with energy can change the course altogether. Here are 10 life-changing tips to get your day started!

    1. Wake up earlier
Waking up earlier in the morning not only increases productivity, but it also leaves you feeling more energized. We can learn to wake up earlier by gradually setting our alarm clocks back further and making sure we follow through. Maintaining a steady schedule will also make it easier. This change to your day will allow you to feel more fulfilled by getting tasks done early. For example, if you wish to add exercise into your day. Finishing this earlier in the morning will give you an early accomplishment and set you off right!

    2. JUMP out of bed
It can be pretty easy in the morning to sit in your cozy bed and press the snooze button on your phone. In order to counteract this, it is a great idea to set the habit of hearing an alarm and immediately, without thinking, jump right out of the sheets. To help you begin this habit, you can start by placing your alarm out of arms reach so in order to shut it off you have to get out of bed. This will eventually feel natural to your body and your mind.

    3. Brush your teeth right away
This may seem awful to those people that like to eat before brushing their teeth but, it may help awaken you on those tiring early mornings. Studies show that producing a specific habit may trigger a response. So, in order to trigger feeling awake, you can brush your teeth right when you wake up. Your body will learn this is a sign to get going and feel alive.

    4. Drink water!
Many people commonly mistake the twinge in your stomach early in the day for hunger. This is actually your body asking for water. When we sleep our bodies use loads of water to help with bodily functions. When we wake we are dehydrated and should drink water right when we get up. As a rule of thumb, I typically drink two cups minimum to start the day and up to four before I eat anything. Water should be drunk before consuming breakfast for better digestion and energy.

    5. Exercise
Exercise early in the day boosts energy, increases mood, and betters brain function for the day. Exercising early in the day can create a great feeling of accomplishment and motivation. This can also be made fun if you go outside for a walk or a hike in nature. The fresh air and sunlight in the early hours of the day are great for your mind and body.

    6. Journaling
Journaling is a great personalized way to express yourself and your feelings. Writing for just a few minutes in the morning to get your thoughts out of your mind can release tension or stress to start your day. Even if you're not stressed, journaling can start a flow of creativity in your mind.

    7. Make a to-do list
This task can be added to your journaling or even a replacement. Writing down a list of things to do throughout the day can increase productivity and organization. It can also be a relief to cross things off your list throughout the day and motivate you to continue. Writing down what's on your mind will ensure you don't forget and release the stress of remembering so many things.

    8. Eat breakfast
Although this is highly endorsed by many healthcare professionals, lots of people still skip breakfast in the morning. Eating just a light meal in the morning can increase your energy, kickstart your metabolism, and improve your mood. It is also equally important to make sure this meal is mindful and healthy. Eating a quick bowl of breakfast cereal is an unhealthy habit and rather quick. In my upcoming article, breakfast superfoods will be discussed for better options.     9. Read
Reading is the foundation of intelligence. In the morning it's beneficial to read to start off your mind and improve thinking. Reading can include a number of things; a blog, a chapter of a book, inspirational quotes, a news article, and any other form you wish. I personally love reading a good book while sitting in some sunlight.

    10. Get enough sleep
It seems obvious that to wake up early, you need a good night's sleep. Many do not realize this includes going to bed earlier. Think about what you typically do before bed. Would it be more productive to wake up early? At night is when many people binge tv or eat late-night snacks. It would be more beneficial for your mind and body to instead, wake up at a decent time and start the day off right!

I hope this article benefits you in any way possible. Comment any other tips you may have for a good morning :)
