5 Reasons to Start a Garden!

5 Reasons to Start a Garden!

Gardening is an activity that I've done for years with my family. In the early summer, we plant our seeds and watch as the plants grow so we can pick them in the fall. Here are 5 health benefits to growing your own garden:

    1. Improves Health
Growing your own garden ensures you know exactly what you're eating. Your vegetables will have the highest vitamin content and there won't be any harmful chemicals involved.

    2. Saves Money
Having a garden takes some maintenance, but overall saves money for you. The vegetables in your garden cost a portion of what they are in the grocery store, and they are better quality!

    3. Outdoor Exercise
Gardening can actually burn up to 400 calories per hour when pulling weeds, digging, and planting. It's a good form of exercise outside.

    4. Natural Stress Reliever
Having your own garden is a natural stress reliever when you get to be outside in the fresh air and sunlight. Gardening is rejuvenating and improves your mood.

    5. Sense of belonging
Growing a garden takes commitment. When you get to pick your own food and enjoy the delicious taste, it gives you a great sense of self-esteem. Being intact with nature and possibly doing this with your family creates a good feeling of belonging.

Tidy Room, Tidy Mind

Tidy Room, Tidy Mind!  Keeping your room clean is important for your mental health. It makes your room a safe and organized place to lay your head at night. Here are 10 tips for cleaning your space:      1. Comfy clothes & music Cleaning your room can be pretty boring in silence. Put on some comfy clothes and a good playlist that won't distract you too much with dancing.      2. Wash sheets Your sheets should be cleaned a minimum of once every two weeks, so throw them in! I typically wash them in the beginning so I can have them finished by the end.      3. Put clothes up Now is the time to organize your clothes between dirty and clean. Put away the clean clothes and set aside the dirty ones for a minute.      4. Take out unknowns Take any items in your room that aren't yours, out of the room.      5. Night Routine Checklist:  Having certain steps each night is important to unwind and relax for a good night of rest. The following tips should help lead you to a better night of sleep and relaxation:  Stay away from unhealthy snacks At night it's not very healthy to eat treats and desserts, they'll leave you feeling bloated and too full. Try to stop eating a few hours before you prepare to sleep in order to feel more comfortable.  Turn off phone The Bluelight that emits from your phone can disturb your sleep at night. Try your best to stay away from screens at least one hour before you close your eyes. Write a to-do list  The worst feeling is being in a rush for the morning. At night, it's a great idea to write a to-do list for the next day. This also clears your mind and allows you to fall into sleep faster. While you write this new list, you can check off your list from the long day you just finished.  Prepare for tomorrow     For even more prep...
