Having acne and scarring can put a damper on your self-esteem. I personally have dealt with acne for roughly 4 years now and have recently put in a lot of work on healthier changes for my skin. Here are some tips and tricks I've learned:

    1. Drink water
As previously discussed on this blog in 'Drinking Water 101', water has many incredible benefits, including repairing the skin. Drinking enough water each day can increase elasticity in the skin, faster repair it, clear acne, and tighten.

    2. Change pillowcases
Your pillowcases should be changed once every two weeks but, if you have acne or sensitive skin make it weekly.

    3. Check your shampoo and conditioner
Shampoo and conditioner are products that can enter the skin on your face or cause acne on your neck, back, shoulders, etc. Make sure to check that your products have low amounts of harmful chemicals and fragrances.

    4. Rinse it all out
Even with good shower products, make certain to sit under the water for an extra minute after washing out your conditioner for good measure.

    5. Tie back hair
Before you fall asleep at night you should braid your hair back. This will prevent your oily hair from making contact with your face and should help with acne on your forehead.

    6. Check your toothpaste
Certain toothpaste can leave acne on your chin and surrounding your mouth. Maybe change up the brand every once in a while to see improvement.

    7. Diet
If you are eating a diet high in sugar, dairy, and salts maybe try something new. Consuming lots of vitamins and minerals is essential for healthy skin.

    8. Bad habits
Try to pay extra attention to the habits you build up when it comes to touching your face. Most of us don't notice when we put our dirty hands on our chin, forehead, etc. Try to bring the touching of your face to a minimum.

    9. Dirty cellphone
Your cellphone is also extremely dirty. Try to avoid holding it up to your face when talking on the phone.

    10. Face tools
The same goes for any other tools that normally touch your face. Always wash makeup brushes and face cleaning brushes on a regular basis.

    11. Exercise
Exercise can release hormones inside of you for improved skin. Try to exercise for an hour every day and watch to see the improvements.

    12. Being outside
Sunlight is very beneficial for clearing your skin. Just make sure before you head out to put on some daily SPF for protection.

    13. Hormonal
Sometimes acne can just simply be hormonal. It's not the best circumstance but feel better knowing it will get better! If you've tried all you can, I suggest seeing a doctor or dermatologist for professional advice.

    14. Check products
I personally found a massive difference in my skin when I decided to shop for clean products. Any face products specifically marked as clean will have no fragrance, harmful chemicals, etc. I like Sephora because they make sure to advertise this on every product.

Tidy Room, Tidy Mind

Tidy Room, Tidy Mind!  Keeping your room clean is important for your mental health. It makes your room a safe and organized place to lay your head at night. Here are 10 tips for cleaning your space:      1. Comfy clothes & music Cleaning your room can be pretty boring in silence. Put on some comfy clothes and a good playlist that won't distract you too much with dancing.      2. Wash sheets Your sheets should be cleaned a minimum of once every two weeks, so throw them in! I typically wash them in the beginning so I can have them finished by the end.      3. Put clothes up Now is the time to organize your clothes between dirty and clean. Night Routine Checklist

Night Routine Checklist:  Having certain steps each night is important to unwind and relax for a good night of rest. The following tips should help lead you to a better night of sleep and relaxation:  Stay away from unhealthy snacks At night it's not very healthy to eat treats and desserts, they'll leave you feeling bloated and too full. Try to stop eating a few hours before you prepare to sleep in order to feel more comfortable.  Turn off phone The Bluelight that emits from your phone can disturb your sleep at night. Try your best to stay away from screens at least one hour before you close your eyes. Write a to-do list  The worst feeling is being in a rush for the morning. At night, it's a great idea to write a to-do list for the next day. This also clears your mind and allows you to fall into sleep faster. While you write this new list, you can check off your list from the long day you just finished.  Prepare for tomorrow     For even more prep...
